Samantha Bee

Samantha Bee was born in Toronto in 1969 and trained in theatre, working through the city's stage and comedy circuit before landing a role on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart in 2003. She stayed with the show for twelve years, becoming its longest-serving correspondent, known for combining sharp political satire with an interviewing style that let her subjects reveal themselves as much as any scripted joke did.

A show of her own

Bee left The Daily Show in 2015 to launch Full Frontal with Samantha Bee on TBS, becoming the first woman in the modern era to host a weekly American late-night satire program on her own, a milestone in a genre that had been almost entirely hosted by men. The show ran for several years, built around the same politically pointed, field-report-heavy style Bee had developed during her Daily Show tenure, cementing her as one of the more prominent Canadian voices in American political comedy.
