Glass Tiger formed in the Toronto area in the early 1980s, building a polished arena-pop sound typical of the era's biggest radio acts. The band's breakthrough came with "Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone)," released in 1986, which became a major international hit, reaching the top of the charts in Canada and the top five in the United States, an unusually large crossover success for a Canadian band of that period.
An uncredited assist
The single featured backing vocals from Bryan Adams, already one of Canada's biggest rock stars at the time, though contractual reasons kept him from receiving formal credit on the initial release. Glass Tiger followed with additional hits through the late 1980s before the band's commercial peak faded with changing musical tastes in the 1990s, but "Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone)" remains one of the most recognizable Canadian pop singles of its decade.
